How to Trick Yourself Into Sounding More Confident in a Job Interview

Job interviews can be nerve-wracking, but they're also your opportunity to shine ๐Ÿ’ซ Here are five tips to help you sound and feel more confident in your next job interview:

1) Know That They Already Love You

Know that from the moment you get the interview, the employer is already interested in you ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ They believe in your potential, thatโ€™s why they called you in the first place! The person interviewing you is not looking for reasons to reject you, they are looking for reasons to hire you ๐Ÿ”” Believe that they already love you and want you to succeed. Cause if you do succeed, they would have done their job, in which case, you both win! ๐ŸŽ‰

2) Look Good

When you look good, you feel good. ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ Dress the part and present yourself in a way that makes you feel confident. Choose an outfit that's appropriate for the role, well-fitted, and comfortable. When you're confident in your appearance, it shows in your demeanor.

3) Use a Downward Inflection

Did you know that when weโ€™re nervous, we tend to speak with an upward inflection? Our tone goes up at the end of our sentences ๐Ÿค” Instead, try to use a downward inflection at the end of your sentences. Youโ€™ll sound more assertive and confident this way ๐Ÿ’ฏ

4) Don't Think of It as an Interview, Think of It as a Meeting

Job interviews can feel like high-pressure situations. To ease that tension, reframe your perspective ๐ŸŒฑ Think of the interview as a meeting between professionals. You're there to discuss how you and the company can mutually benefit each other ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿผ Do your research, and have some questions prepared.

5) Use Affirmative Language

Your choice of words matters โœ… Instead of saying, "I think I could," say, "I can." Keep things positive! โ€œYes, Iโ€™d be happy to elaborate on thatโ€ฆโ€, โ€œWhat I find interesting about this company isโ€ฆโ€, โ€œIf hired, Iโ€™d be more than happy to help with that.โ€ Be clear and concise in your responses. Avoid filler words or overly cautious language that may convey uncertainty.

You got this! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
