ADHD & Job Interviews

“Ugh I have ADHD, who would want to hire me?” 😭

I get messages like this allllllll the time (like a LOT 💬) & I think the same thing every time:

It’s all about the story you tell 📖 Nearly any weakness has a flip side with a strength. All you have to do is become aware of them & use practices, tools, and resources to harness them. Here’s how 👇🏼👇🏼

Hyperfocus:

Maybe you have difficulty focusing but that’s because you have the remarkable ability to hyperfocus 💡 – to zero in on a task with intense concentration. In a world filled with distractions, hyper-focusing can transform you into a productivity powerhouse. Once you start, you can’t let it go until it’s completed or finished, meanwhile most people have already lost interest. 😵‍💫 This allows you to dive into complex projects, solve intricate problems, and churn out remarkable results with unmatched precision.

Creativity:

ADHD brains 🧠 are wired to think outside the box, continuously generating novel ideas and unique solutions. You have a million things going on in your head at once! Embrace your ability to see connections others might miss, disrupt the status quo, and breathe new life into projects 🌱 Your fresh perspectives can lead to groundbreaking breakthroughs that push your team and company to new heights.

Adaptability and Resilience:

Constantly adjusting to shifting circumstances, you thrive in dynamic environments where change is the only constant 🏃‍♂️ This trait makes you an invaluable asset during times of transition, able to pivot quickly and keep the ship steady. Your resilience in the face of challenges and your knack for finding alternative paths can be the driving force behind your team's success, allowing you to navigate uncertainty with finesse 💅🏻

Quick Thinker:

While others may call you impulsive, I call you adventurous 🏔️ Most people waste time over thinking but your rapid cognitive processing allows you to analyze situations and make decisions on the fly. In high-pressure moments, your ability to think on your feet can be a game-changer. 👉🏼 You take action and discover new ideas faster than others.

It's time to rewrite the narrative around ADHD. Your unique traits aren't limitations – they're superpowers that can set you apart in the workplace. Find jobs you can thrive in like  sales, sports, emergency services, and self-employment. By leveraging your strengths, you'll carve a path to success that is uniquely yours 🚀🌟

❤️ Also, while you’re here, there has been a massive uptick in self diagnosing (and sometimes self medicating) ADHD. Please do not self diagnose yourself, especially from videos you see on the internet. Consult a licensed mental health professional for diagnosis and treatment.
