How to Write a Cover Letter in Under 3 Minutes

We’re no longer wasting time writing a cover letter! 😂 it's funny I’m posting this because I literally sell a pack of 2 custom cover letter templates in my shop but if you don’t have $10 honestly this works really well lol

1. Pull up your tailored resume:

Before you start writing your cover letter, make sure you’ve already updated your resume to reflect the word choice used in the job description 📝 Your resume should always be tailored to the job you’re applying for.

2. Find the job description:

Go to the original job posting and find the job description. You'll need this for the next step. 👩🏼‍💻

3. Use ChatGPT as a Writing Assistant:

ChatGPT is going to be your lifesaver here. Make an account if you don’t already have one (it’s free) 💯

a. Start with a Polite Greeting:

We are friendly with our robots. Start your prompt to ChatGPT with something like “Hi ChatGPT! Hope you’re having a GREAT day!” 🌞 Then instruct it to write you a short cover letter for you with a conversational tone (adjust to your industry).

b. Copy and Paste Your Resume:

And then comes the fun part. Copy and paste the details of your TAILORED resume to ChatGPT 📼✨ Do the same thing for the job description. Press enter and see what AI comes up with!

4. Personalize and Review:

   While ChatGPT can generate the bulk of your cover letter, you’ll want to give it a second look and adjust it for tone and accuracy. 👀But that’s it!

5. Save and Send:

   Once you're satisfied with your cover letter, save it as a separate document and send it along with your resume as part of your job application…and yes, write a cover letter! They can really help you stand out amongst the crowd 🙋🏼‍♀️
